Although it is not known exactly where and when the first food and beverage business in the world was opened, it is estimated that it was opened in China in the 11th century. The concept of restaurant first emerged after the French Revolution.
The businesses that produce and sell food and beverage to meet the food and beverage needs of people are called “ristereuter”, which means regulator in French. (Sarıışık et al. 2010:3). In those years, the word restaurant was used for a spicy dish that regained lost energy. Brillant Savarin, one of the flavor masters of the 18th century, used the word restaurant to refer to chocolate, broth and red meat, and it was used in this sense until the 19th century.
